==Objectives and Requirements== The objective of this tutorial is to connect a host on which FLSA software has been installed, to another through the [Child Area] functionality of the FLS [Discovery Service]. It is necessary to have confidence with the following topics: * Fundamentals of Computer Networks The tutorial assumes that: *the hosts are reachable by their hostnames both ways from one another, meaning that it is possible to ping their hostnames from the other host. If the network does not have a Domain Controller (DNS), it will be necessary to statically direct the hostname to the host's IP address, in the hostfile of each machine. A tutorial on how to do this is available at [^https://helpdeskgeek.com/networking/edit-hosts-file/|this page] [file:{UP(How-to-configure-a-Child-Area-in-the-Discovery-service)}How to Add a Local DNS Lookup to Hosts File.pdf|(Local copy)] ==Procedure== # Open the FLS Discovery Configuration, which is automatically installed with the FLS Discovery Framwork in each FLSA product. # Open the Child areas and click on "Add area" [image:{UP(How-to-configure-a-Child-Area-in-the-Discovery-service)}1.PNG|frameless|max800|left|Child Area] <br style="clear:both" /> # Insert in Area designation the desired name for the child area inside the "parent" host. This can be anything but it is good practice to choose a meaningful name for the specific application. [image:{UP(How-to-configure-a-Child-Area-in-the-Discovery-service)}2.PNG|frameless|max400|left|Add Host] <br style="clear:both" /> # Click on Apply and then on OK # Click on Apply also on the main tab where the just configured child area appears [image:{UP(How-to-configure-a-Child-Area-in-the-Discovery-service)}3.PNG|frameless|max800|left|Child Area] <br style="clear:both" /> ==Validation== If the host is correctly added as a child area, it will be shown with the following graphical indication on the Workplace UI [image:{UP(How-to-configure-a-Child-Area-in-the-Discovery-service)}4.PNG|frameless|left|Workplace] <br style="clear:both" /> It is possible to access directly tags in any child area, but not from the general [Tag Value Browser]. For example this is a screen of the Tag Browser of the [HMI Editor] which shows the access to the tags belonging to the configured child area.
