How to set up a child area

Note that a child area can only be set up between two FLS systems, and that they must have unique SQL ID's, so they cannot be cloned from each other. The two systens must be able to ping each other.

Step 1: Go to the FLS Discovery Configuration on the machine that you want to import data to. Now, go to Child Areas, as seen in the left image below.

Step 2: Press Add Area. This will open the right image seen below.

Step 3: Area designation is the name that the user gives to the exporting system. Host Designation can be either the PC name or its IP address.

Step 4: After pressing Apply to the Host Designation, and OK to finalize the set up, restart the PC that is importing data.

Step 5: All tags in the exporting pc can now be read(but not written into) in Workplace under the name that was given in Area designation. LocalArea is the tags of importing PC. All exported tags can be trended, used as an input for a calculator point and used as a tag value in the HMI as you would a normal system. See Workplace image below.
