There is no dedicated UI for this, all setup must be done in the general configuration under Core->Export Service.
Prerequisites
- This feature is licensed and the customer has to pay for it. Sales price 2022 is 2225€.
- One PC on the control or office network needs to have FLSmidth Sound & SMS Engines software installed, this can be downloaded from flsadev and the software does not require any other FLS software. This software can also be installed directly on a ControlCenter server or QCX server itself. One PC can serve all FLSmidth servers on site. Note, the FLS Engines software is not licensed, but each FLS server that needs to utilize Mail or SMS would also need a license.
Together with the software a reference manual is installed. (It is not available on flsadev)
- For SMS support the PC with FLS Engines software needs to be connected to a modem. The modem must be fitted with a SIM card, the reference manual explains in more details and also which modems have been tested.
- For Mail support the PC with FLS Engines software needs to be able to access an SMTP server either on the local office network or on the internet. And the PC with FLS Engines software needs to be accessible from the QCX system.
Client setup
First step is to configure the PC that has the FLS Engines software installed. In below example QCX is running on a server named rsk-ntc02 but the FLS Engines software is installed on another PC on the red network called SPAC-VMV7.
In this example we will use the SMTP server in FLS to send the mail. This mail server requires no login, but other mail servers might require this. Also the FromAddress does not need to be a valid email address for this setup, for this reason the noreply address was used.
We have no modem to test and show the SMS but basically you just here, add the modem under GsmUnit and the configuration much be found on the site system. Just an example below but it might not be a valid setup.
User setup
Users that should be able to receive Mail or SMS needs to be configured into the Export Service, this is done on purpose since it could be other users that the users defined in the QCX system.
In this case we have added 2 different users, one could have mail only and the other both mail and SMS.
UserGroup setup
The user groups are the main selection point when sending mails, SMS's or reports, so they are important to set up. In this example we make a Lab Manager and QA Manager, to each of the groups one or more users can be added.
Mail on request
With the above setup completed the system is ready to send mails on request from the Workplace. Click on the dropdown in the upper right corner of the Workplace and for example select Screen Dump.
A new UI pops up, now select Send As Mail.
From the dropdown list the operator can choose which group to send it to.
Now fill out Subject, Header and Body for the Lab Manager to know what it is all about and push Send. You will get a message back in the UI to know if it was successful or not. After this the UI can be closed to continue work in the Workplace.
The following Mail is received a few seconds later.
The other option on request is to send file attachments. We select the Send Mail option instead in the dropdown.
This opens directly a mail UI. In this case I select the QA Manager instead who in this case is the mail. NB! This UI is not persisted, if you click somewhere else, all is lost.

Reports in Mail
It is also possible to send scheduled reports by Mail when the above configuration has been done. Below are highlighted the new Scheduler options in Reporting Configuration. Previously we only had option to save locally and/or print.
