==Question== What is the difference between 'Sample group' and 'Sample point'/'Material type'? ==Details== With QCX V7 we had ''Sample groups'', while we with QCX V8 have ''Sample points'' and ''Material types''. What exactly has changed? ==Answer== The difference is caused by a conceptual difference between QCX V7 and QCX V8. ''Sample points'' (licensed on V8) are points in the process, from where samples can be taken (samplers, manual sample points etc). Samples, which are introduced manually into the lab, may - depending on the circumstances - be configured either as coming from a number of physical sample points in the process, or from one common 'Manual lab infeed' sample point. ''Material types'' (licensed on V8) describes the different materials, regardless from where they origin - e.g. Raw meal, Cement IV etc. ''Sample groups'' (licensed on V7, term not used on V8) were combinations of sample points and material types. Example: 3 cement mills, each configured for production of the same 4 cement types, would correspond to * QCX V7: 3 x 4 = 12 sample groups * QCX V8: 3 sample points, 4 material types
